High blood pressure – or "hypertension" – is a major public health problem that affects up to 1 in 4 Americans.
There are two types of high blood pressure, primary hypertension and secondary hypertension.
Primary hypertension accounts for 95% of hypertension and has several contributing factors.
Secondary hypertension (obviously the other 5% of hypertension cases) occurs when there is a malfunction in one of the body's organs or systems.
Primary (or essential) hypertension can be attributed to a variety of factors. Roughly 30% of cases can be attributed to genetic factors. For example, Read the rest of this entry »

The heart pumps blood for good circulation in the body. The circulatory process is called blood pressure. Whenever a person gets excited, afraid, and angry – the blood pressure increases or decreases. Blood pressure is also related to pulse rate. Whenever there is too much or too less blood flow in the body, there comes a deficiency or disease.
Hypotension is a deficiency pertaining to low blood pressure. This sickness is more common to young women. Even if one has low blood pressure, one should be alarmed because this is a serious condition. In some cases, this condition is caused Read the rest of this entry »

If you feel a nagging pain at the back of your head, difficulty in breathing, and a sudden yet recurring spell of dizziness, you could be suffering from high blood pressure. A diet that is high in saturated and Trans fat, as well as sodium is linked to increased cases of high blood pressure. Smoking and stress also contribute greatly to having above normal blood pressures, and a lifestyle that lacks any sort of physical activity.
One effective and scientifically proven home remedy for high blood pressure is garlic. Eating cloves of garlic has been found to release important blood Read the rest of this entry »

No doubt, there are number of treatments and medicines available for the treatment of high blood pressure. But as it is said, "Precaution is better than cure". So, we must consider this saying and follow the recommended rules in order to prevent the high blood pressure.
Blood pressure is directly proportional to the body weight; it means that if your weight increases the blood pressure also rises. Overweight people have an increased risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, and other illnesses. Some of the Causes of High Blood Pressure
Before analyzing some of the effective solutions for high blood pressure, we must first look at some of the possible causes of this problem. According to modern medicine some of the basic causes of high blood pressure are:
1. MALFUNCTIONING OF THE KIDNEYS may in various ways disturb the proper balance of water in the body. High blood pressure causes major health problems for many people around the world and work goes on all the time to improve the monitoring and control of blood pressure in patients who have the condition. Patients suffering high blood pressure should be very aware of the foods they eat. High blood pressure happens when your heart overworks itself to distribute blood throughout your body. A person's blood pressure becomes high primarily because of clogged arteries. Clogged arteries stop blood from passing freely. As a result, the heart pushes the blood aggressively. At which point, your blood pressure rises.
More than the medicines prescribed by your doctor, you make sure that you follow a good diet if you are suffering from hypertension. There are two general rules when it comes to Read the rest of this entry »

A study at the University of Georgetown as reported in the American College of Nutrition (2006) showed for the first time that cinnamon will lower systolic blood pressure. In addition Dr. Richard Anderson from the US Department of Agriculture concurs.
Now this is not the cinnamon (ground or sticks) that you can buy in your local supermarket. I have probably had high blood pressure for a long time. This is the story of how I found out.
In hindsight, I can identify many symptoms of high blood pressure, but I either ignored them or thought they were related to other things.
The major symptom I had was headaches. Most days I would either wake up with a headache or develop one. Some of them were real "head splitters" … occasionally I would have to lie down to stop the nausea. I remember often working in front of my computer and trying very hard not to move my head to avoid feeling sharp pains.
Since being diagnosed with high blood pressure Read the rest of this entry »
